Coding Blog: Why so many comments are modded down?

As has been pointed out by some people, a great many articles -- OK, nearly every one -- say there are more comments than most people see. The reason is that they have been modded down by one or more of the users. Generally, all these down-mods occur for merely three recurring reasons: Flames by programmers of hostile forks, flames advertising hostile forks, flames against my personal character when in response to personal articles about myself.
First, the second most voluminous poster on xMule.ws -- both in the forums and in comments -- is the mainter of the hostile fork of this application, Kry, aka Nicely (among several other aliases) and coming from the same Spanish ISP These are always flames meant *primarily* to gain more users for his application, which spawned as a 100% copy off of all the xMule programmers' efforts.
Second, a great many of that same hostile fork's contributors (~15) have more or less off and on flamed here if it suits Kry's purposes, Although they will almost certainly contest this fact (Which is difficult to prove since they use different IPs, aliases) it is mirrored elsewhere, such as our GnomeFiles page. The *sole* exception to this pattern is Mikkel Schubert of the hostile fork, who is so non-hostile I perpetually wonder why he supports them...(he claims its because he thought that the other project was more friendly, as they did not have xMule devs a) spying in its dev channel, b) flaming its forums (see Nicely (kry) flame(s) below, c) copying every advance, or d) claiming "xmule was dead" (uses rel=nofollow) ... a lie perpetrated predominantly by a fellow hostile-fork dev.
Third, in the past, the proponents of the hostile fork and the failed one before that (the so-called xMule v2 client) have concluded -- quite publically, predominantly on xMule servers -- that I am some how "dictatorial" because I would delete walking-advertisements for forks, on the hosts *I* pay money for (there have been zero donations since Dec 31 ,2003, well over a year ago). You use my code for free, there are no for-profit banner ads on this site (all of them are put there solely because I support their content). But insult ME for your gain? un un.
By modding down, the record exists for any registered user can read. Registering is little more than saying "I will stick a nick to the flames I write", and if you do this much, the chances of you getting modded down are greatly reduced.
The easiest way to get modded down is to mention a hostile fork by name, link to it, and state it is "far superior" without elucidly stating why. I do not believe I have ever done this with regards to the other program (that is, flamed for xmule on their site) except possibly when I have been very mentally unstable (read: biologically depressed). This just isn't cool.
