Re: Gentoo CEO would side with xMule over aMule (Score: 0)

I too thought this post would be about something (say, comparing amule and xmule based on technical merit) and was completely misled. This just turned out to be a quote from Robbins with some general wisdom on project management. But it was taken out of original context and forced into this different one. Robbins says nothing of xmule, amule, Kry, etc. He says elsewhere that freaks are easily identified by virtue of the fact that they do not contribute code. But obviously amule was started up by active programmers who felt that their contributions were not appreciated by the xmule maintainters.

So there is in fact no evidence that Gentoo's CEO prefers xmule over amule, and some evidence that Robbins' oppinions have no bearing on the xmule fork whatsoever. FWIW, both amule and xmule are in Gentoo's portage, and for some reason they conflict (one cannot have both installed at the same time).

About democracy: Sheesh, we shouldn't be so sensitive. It's not a religion! Anyway in context, Robbins was saying that freaks try to gain support by twisting the term 'democracy' to suit their own goals: an easily-manipulable system. And we've proven how well this works by reacting so violently to the term based on a shallow reading.

In fact, with this kind of post Ted is aiming at the Achille's heel of democracy by using political spin to manipulate us. And we are using freedom of speech (democracy's shoes) to deconstruct this spin. But this attack doesn't make Ted "undemocratic", just a good politician.
