xMule xMule 1.8.3 Released
Posted by HopeSeekr on Saturday, July 10 @ 05:25:07 CDT
Contributed by HopeSeekr

This release focuses mainly on user interactions with the client, along with major improvements to the download implementation. Less hassles all around, especially for packagers. xmule-1.8.3.rar - 1.09 MB
xmule-1.8.3.tar.bz2 - 1.25 MB
xmule-1.8.3.tar.gz - 1.66 MB
xmule-1.8.3 binary (Linux) - 3.55 MB

Possible leech client versions are not automatically banned in this release. To use this feature, toggle on FlowChart->New Preferences->Ban clients that refuse to upload. What this does is prevent uploads to clients that will not upload to you but will download from you (e.g. implicit leeching of their clients due to their secretive protocol hacks). Additionally, Flow Chart->Debug-Settings->OP_FILEREQUEST should probably be turned *off*. This will not allow you to download from eMule 0.42 clients, but it will prevent 0.42 from leeching from you in *certain* instances. All of the beta testers have noticed significant increases in downloads when OP_FILEREQUEST is turned off and leecher clients have been disabled. If you do not ban leecher clients, and want to know if you are being leeched from, the connection status column of the Download list will always say "Asking...". This means that the client has responded to you, and has entered your Queue if you have a part it needs, but that it refuses you entry into its Queue for what ever reason. To be even more sure you are being leeched from, toggle on FlowChart->Show Incom. OPcodes->OP_ACCEPTUPLOADREQ. Leechers will never send that opcode afaik. Version 1.8.3 ------------- 2004-07-10 * FIXED: Only update global search results when search either stops or is cancelled. Prevents an obnoxious screen flicker. * FIXED: Major memory leak that occured in CPartFile. * FIXED: Added a workaround so that buggy eMule 0.43 clients will now upload to xMule clients instead of leeching as before. * FIXED: Several bugfixes in the base client implementation. * ADDED: Embedded resource system for New FlowChart Prefs. * ADDED: xMule can now be minized to the taskbar. * Updated OP_SERVERIDENT to handle more ed2k servers. * Require wx 2.4.2 at compile time. * Warn user when changing dangerous FlowChart settings. * Start search when ENTER is pressed in the query textbox. * Leecher protection: Do not upload to clients that routinely will not upload to xMule due to their own implementations of the ed2k protocol. * Server messages function has been upgraded to multiline messages. * Reimplemented MAP for lists. Improved efficiency and less crashes. * Added FlowChart option to ban probable leech clients (Off by default).
